VISION

Zorion Medical is developing a break-through device platform that utilizes unique and proprietary biomaterials that will be totally absorbed in 3 to 6 months following delivery into the cardiovascular system.  Our vision is to treat the problem of coronary or peripheral artery disease by deploying the device, delivering the drug, and disappearing as soon as the body has healed itself, eliminating the need for further treatment and the potential of further complications.
 
CLINICAL NEED

Current metal and drug-eluting stents are a $6 billion market globally.  These devices are permanentaly implanted and as a result, patients must take medicine to lower the risk of clots forming in the stent, a situation called late-stage thrombosis  (LTS).  It has been estimated that each year, 50,000 people die due to LTS.

ZORION MEDICAL ADVANTAGE

Major companies are working to develop their own absorbable stents, however most of these programs utilize polymer-based technologies that can take up to two years to absorb, are difficult to impant, and have limited clinical application and utility.  Zorion Medical's non-toxic, proprietary biomaterials and design will have the performance and development characteristics of drug-eluting, metal stents while being completely absorbed within a short time period.

PROGRESS

Founded in 2010, Zorion Medical has recently completed pre-clinical studies to determine the properties of our biomaterials with very encouraging results that showed complete absorption with little to no inflammatory tissue response within 90 days.  The company is now moving forward with further pre-clinical and optimization work to prepare for first-in-man studies.
